UNITY CLUB JOINS WASHINGTON POLICY FORUM ON UKRAINE’S POST-WAR PRIORITIES

Unity Club took part in the Ukraine’s Quest for Mature Nation Statehood Roundtable XXVI, held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The event was organized by the Center for US-Ukrainian Relations (CUSUR). This year’s theme “Contemplating Post-War Recovery: The Issue of Priority Sectors in the Ukrainian Economy” drew diplomats, economists, and business leaders to debate how Ukraine can rebuild with speed and strategy.
Speaking in separate sessions, Ambassador Roman Popadiuk and Pavlo Chumak represented Unity Club with distinct yet complementary perspectives on Ukraine’s reconstruction path.
Ambassador Popadiuk, addressing the Highlight Focus Session II: Perspective from DC, called for aligning Western investment with governance reforms and institutional resilience.
In the Agriculture Panel Discussion, Pavlo Chumak challenged traditional thinking with a provocative thesis: Ukraine does not need evolution – it needs revolution. He argued that slow, bureaucratic approaches to rebuilding risk trapping the country in stagnation. Instead, he called for a radical reboot of Ukraine’s economic model based on four pillars: Radical deregulation, a new fiscal architecture, energy revolution, and strategic industrial positioning.
Mr. Chumak also proposed creating an International Economic Advisory Council under the Unity Club’s framework, bringing together reformers, economists, and investors to design Ukraine’s next-generation economic transformation plan.
“The main threat to Ukraine’s sovereignty is not Russian tanks, it’s economic hopelessness,” he said. “The time for evolution is over. Now is the time for revolution.”
Unity Club’s participation reaffirmed its mission to connect diplomacy, policy, and enterprise, turning ideas into actionable strategies that can rebuild a competitive, self-sustaining Ukraine.
